Water filtration in an aquarium plays a very important role. Thanks to the filters, water is cleaned from such contaminants as non-eaten food residues, metabolic products, particles of vegetation and other garbage released by the inhabitants of the aquarium, which, if not removed in time, can lead to poisoning of all inhabitants of the aquarium. In order for the filter to effectively purify water, it is necessary to choose the right filler for it.
There are three types of filtration of aquarium water: mechanical, chemical and of course biological. Each of them is very important, since they perform different functions. Therefore, when selecting the fillers for the filter, it is necessary to take into account their features, and then aquarium inhabitants will delight you with their health, and the aquarium with frequency.
Biohars for the aquarium are made of high quality and absolutely safe material – plastic. Their surface has a large number of small pores and after a while beneficial bacteria begin to form on it. Therefore, high-quality filter elements must necessarily have a very loose structure conducive to the emergence of a large number of much-needed bacteria that destroy ammonia compounds from water. Biochars can be used in any type of aquarium. The biochars are very small, only four centimeters in diameter, but at the same time they have a vast inner surface, thanks to which large colonies of bacteria are formed in them.
Since biochars have a round shape, they are easily placed in the filter compartment, due to their design they do not stagnate and allow water to pass well, as well as a highly porous surface, and therefore are a high-quality biofilter. The most important requirement when using bio-balls for filtering water in an aquarium is that they should never be washed with tap water, as well as the use of detergents. If necessary, they can be rinsed in aquarium water.
