Hello dear aquarists and subscribers of my blog. It has been several days since my last post in which I talked about the disease of aquarium fish and I’m happy to start writing another useful article for beginning aquarists. We will talk today about how to run the aquarium correctly. Why post exactly on this topic?
Now I will explain! The fact is that every day the number of aquarists increases, respectively, the number of questions asked at aquarium forums increases. The most frequent question is the first launch of the aquarium.
Immediately I want to say this: never when you start an aquarium take your time. This process is painstaking and responsible. If you do something wrong, then your work may go down the drain. And so, what is useful for running our aquarium?
It is clear that the aquarium itself, the tank under the aquarium, the lamp, the filter (internal or external – it all depends on the volume of your can), heater, soil, snags and stones.
Before you begin the basic startup process, you should already have washed the ground; if there are snags, then you should prepare them and make sure that there are no harmful elements in them; stones – large or large, it all depends on the scenery you choose; film for the back wall of the aquarium (you can of course not glue it, but it will be nicer with it). Before you put the aquarium on the cabinet, it must be set strictly on the level. So. Exposed! Now you need to stick on the back wall of the decorative film.
Installation of an aquarium
If the cabinet under the aquarium put up, now it’s time to lay the litter under your can. I put a 2-inch foam, you can put something like a rubber mat. Laying in place, now gently set the aquarium on the cabinet. Installed? Fine. Then take the aquarium soil and begin to evenly distribute it over the entire area of the bottom of the aquarium.
Five centimeters of the thickness of the soil layer will be quite sufficient, in rare cases make 8 centimeters. You can lay the soil on a slope to the front wall, but you can even. Anyway, then your relief will equal in the process of caring for the aquarium. What soil for the aquarium to choose, I have already written on my blog, if not read, study this article – it will help you.
We put the soil in the aquarium
After the ground is in place, now you need to place the decor elements – snags and stones. All these attributes are an integral part of aqua design, please take this seriously. After the soil and snags can already be poured into the aquarium water. For this you need a saucer or a small plate and a container of water, respectively. If you are uncomfortable pouring water alone, ask for help. I want to note one thing about the water. The forums often ask about what kind of water to fill in the aquarium. Basically, tap water will work. Anyway, you will not start any living creatures and vegetation in the aquarium.
Making decor in the aquarium
When I ran my aquarium, I took 6 baklazhk 10-liter purified water, and the rest of the volume I filled with water from the water supply. The net volume of water in my tank is 205 liters. It all depends on your can. If it is small, say 40 liters, then I think you can defend a few buckets of water. But for large aquariums, in principle, it is not possible to defend such amount of water. Therefore, for the immediate elimination of chlorine from tap water, special conditioners are used, for example, AQUAYER AntiToxin Vita.
And so, we poured water, what to do next? As soon as we fill our tank to the top with water, place a filter and a heater in it. In principle, this could be done before pouring water, but so be it. After the aquarium is full, after a short period of time, a bacterial film will appear on the surface of the water, which must be removed. This is done easily and simply with the help of an ordinary newspaper. Put a sheet of newspaper on the surface of the water, wait for time until it is completely wet, and then carefully remove the newspaper from the surface. If once was not enough, repeat the procedure.
Fill the water in the aquarium
Once the bacterial film has been removed, put a cover with a lamp on top of the aquarium and in no case turn on the light. After that, you will need to turn on your filter and heater and leave your aquarium in this form for seven days, not including lighting. Do not worry if the water in the aquarium dims in a day or two, it should be so. After a certain period of time it will clear.
After a week of keeping the aquarium in the “dark”, on the 8th day, turn on the light of the watch for 5-6 and plant some of the most undemanding plants. Take a closer look at their condition for three days. If everything is normal, then you can run a few unpretentious fish. The day on the 12th lighting can be turned on at 9 o’clock, just don’t think so far while feeding the fish. Nothing wrong with the fish will not happen if they starve a few days. Three days later, you can feed the animals a little)
As it took three weeks after launch, try to populate in the aquarium more capricious aquarium fish and aquarium plants. After a three-week period, you can replace 20 percent of the water and suck the soil with a funnel. Look at the stream that your filter gives out. If it becomes noticeably weaker, remove the filter from the aquarium, disassemble it and clean the filter element (the filter sponge is usually clogged)
After 4 weeks, if everything in your aquarium is normal, you can settle the remaining fish and plants. Continue once a week to change the water in the aquarium and clean the ground with a funnel. Again, look at the filter; if it produces a weak stream, clean it and rinse with running water.
If you do everything as I told you, then there should be no problems and your aquarium will develop. The main thing is not to hurry, now I will explain why. The fact is that when starting the aquarium should be established biological balance. If there is none, your labors will be doomed to failure. Plants will not grow, fish can die. In general, the launch of the aquarium is a delicate matter, the main thing is not to hurry, everything has its time. Maintain all necessary time intervals, and only then do the next step. This way you protect the entire ecosystem of the aquarium from undesirable consequences.
This is what should happen in the end 🙂
I have everything on it, I hope the post turned out to be interesting and useful. Fly on the comments and subscribe to blog updates. In a few days you will have another interesting post.
