Select Internal Filter

In order to contain such pets as aquarium fish, three components are necessary:

  1. aquarium
  2. equipment for aquarium
  3. food for fish

The choice of aquarium, mainly depends on your taste – now there is a very large selection of colors, shapes, manufacturers. Much more difficult is the case with the choice of equipment. Filters, heaters, compressors, CO2 systems, etc. BUT, the most important in the aquarium, after the fish and the aquarium itself, of course, the filter!

In general, all filters are divided into internal (those that are inside the aquarium) and external (located outside the aquarium and, accordingly, do not occupy space in it).

All internal filters can be divided into three categories: standard (pump + sponge), biofilters (pump + biocontainer + sponge), universal (pump + sponge + additional filtering element – for example, a built-in UV lamp).

– the most common. it Fan models (for aquariums from 10l to 250l) and unifilter (for aquariums from 10l to 300l). The most optimal ratio of price, quality and ease of service. The main tasks of these filters are to filter the water, preserving the biological balance (perform mechanical and biological filtration), there is also an aeration function. Thus, these filters can be called “two in one” (filter and compressor), especially for Unifilter, but more on that later.

Standard filters consist of "Heads" (this is a pump) and a sponge hidden in a decorative glass, which is also a prefilter, which retains large contaminants (pieces of plants, feed, etc.). The following is supplied to any AQUAEL internal filter: aeration nozzle, aeration hose with a plug, a holder with suction cups and a suspension system – for fixing the filter on uneven surfaces (round aquariums or on a volumetric background), a guide tip for changing the flow. The pump mainly consists of a rotor chamber, a rotor, a flow power regulator.

In addition to the appearance main differences between Fan and Unifilter – this is the presence of the latter two sponges and opportunities aeration through the rotor chamber. Two sponges allow you to save useful microflora, because sponges can be rinsed alternately (then an unwashed sponge allows the beneficial microflora to recover on the second sponge). Aeration through the rotor chamber allows it to deep water and air bubbles it turns out much smaller, which increases the dissolution of oxygen in water, and hence aeration more efficiently!

Service these filters are completely not difficult:
Sponge cleaning carried out as pollution (installed empirically – you just watch the power flow: if it is reduced, then it’s time to clean the sponge – about once every 2-3 weeks – depends on the number of fish in the aquarium). Sponge washing is best done in the water drained from the aquarium – it will save the beneficial bacteria. Rotary chamber !sure! clean once a month under running tap water, otherwise rotor seizure may occur – if too much dirt accumulates.

– they differ from the standard ones by the presence of a “biocontainer” – a separate container with biological filler (ceramics, bio-spheres, etc.). The name is conditional, because in addition to bio-filler, it is possible, without any problems, to arrange any chemical filler (coal, zeolite, ion-exchange resins). The main representatives of biofilters – this line Turbofilter (from 50l to 350l aquariums). However, in the Unifilter lineup there is a bioelement – this Unifilter 1000 – it also has a biocontainer!

BIO container – An important part of professional filtration. If you have big fish, goldfish, or from time to time problems arise in the aquarium (water grows turbid, fish die), then Turbofilter can be an excellent solution. The presence of biocontainer improves filtration at times!

The completeness of these filters is the same as for all other AQUAEL filters: aeration nozzle, aeration hose with a plug, a holder with suction cups and a suspension system, a guide tip.

The structure of biofilters is a bit different: pump, biocontainer and sponge. Circulator pumps with a capacity of 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 l / h. Depending on the performance, the name of the filter Turbofilter 500, Turbofilter 1000, Turbofilter 1500 and Turbofilter 2000 also follows. There is no decorative glass on the sponge for this type of filter, and the sponge has a special structure! Horizontal notches around the perimeter of the sponge accumulate in themselves the remnants of organic pollution (pieces of plants, excrement, remnants of food). As a result, a high concentration of bacteria decomposing organics is created here, due to which biofiltration is leaking much faster!

Biocontainer has the form of a plastic flask with a lid. On the filter, it can be used with a sponge – it is put on after a container on a special ledge, and without a sponge – then a special prefilter is put on the container (included). Pay attention: inside the container there are removable grids, which are necessary so that the bulk filler does not clog the container feed / intake openings – do not forget to install them after cleaning.

Maintenance of these filters is the same as that of the standard (cleaning as pollution), with one exception – the filler in the container must be changed according to the instructions. Each filler has its own resource, to exceed which is undesirable!

These are filters with built-in UV sterilization.

Their main representatives are Unifilter UV POWER. Here you can read more about them >>>>
